Diet
As many patients with chronic pain have multiple sensitivities throughout their entire body, it is no surprise that there are some foods that you may not tolerate. Many people with nociplastic pain report gastrointestinal issues as a potential trigger for worsening their widespread pain. Unfortunately, research has not indicated that there are specific foods or supplements that should be added or avoided in all patients with chronic pain.(12) You may consider working with a registered dietitian to further discuss how to best approach an elimination diet to determine if you have certain food sensitivities.
Having low levels of Vitamin D has also been associated with some diffuse pain complaint and supplements should be considered.(13,14)
